Irony

It just occured to me:

It's funny that in a place like Singapore, where freedom of speech technically is not a right and creativity is the pursuit of the young, infirm and not-quite-right-in-the-head, there are comparatively speaking many more advertising, graphic design and web design studios than in many other cities.

I mean, if everyone wants to pay pennies for creatives services (since, as we all know, creativity is a simple matter of hitting a couple of buttons in Photoshop), how is it we can support so many small design studios?

I get it... and I don't get it.

Perhaps it's just the odd myth of suffering for your art coupled with the 'designer' need to be hip or something...
